For hundreds of athletes in the area, the cancellation of the 2020 spring sports season was a devastating blow to their spring. Most have been able to cope and move on as several of them are now preparing for the summer seasons of baseball and softball. Melcher-Dallas senior Emery Sage, who qualified for the state cross country meet last fall and was looking to qualify for the state track meet again this year after qualifying in two events last season tells KNIA Sports while it was sad to lose his final season as a Melcher-Dallas Saint, he is not going to let it define his high school career…
Sage:
“Just hanging out with friends and coaches I just made some really good relationships and that’s something I’ll never forget, and I’m just really thankful for that.”
Sage plans to go to Indian Hills and study robotics. He adds he will still run and be active, but his competitive sports days are over so he can concentrate on his academics. Listen for a full interview on tonight’s Radio Sports Page at 6:00pm on KNIA.
