While competing for a 3A state championship was on the mind of the Pella boys golf team this spring–and with those hopes now dashed, one of their seniors intends to move to a warmer climate to keep competing.

Trey Wood announced this week he intends to head to Arkansas and play for Lyon College. Wood says he always had an eye on moving further south, and found the Scots program to be the fit for him.

Wood earned several accolades while competing in the green and white — Trey was a 2018 first team All-State selection and first team All-Little Hawkeye Conference, as he finished as the 10th ranked golfer in Class 3A, and in 2019 was again on the first team All-Conference and an honorable mention for All-State. Last season, he was a part of the key lineup that brought Pella to the state meet, where the No. 3 rated team in the state placed 6th in a weather-shortened event.
