The loss of spring sports has hit all local athletes hard, especially members of the class of 2020, and those with dreams of state championship gold.
Pella Christian Track and Field Head Coach Keith Anderson says it’s a lost spring for the likes of Blake Veenstra, who busted a school record just before heading to the state meet and earning top 10 finishes in the shot put and discus in 2019, and was poised to improve on top eight finishes at Drake Stadium.
Anderson expressed he understands why the season had to be lost in the interest of public safety, but it still hurts to think about what could have been this month for someone like Blake. Veenstra is heading to Hawkeye Community College and will continue throwing for their track and field program.
