She will go down as one of the best ever to wear a Knoxville uniform, maybe the best ever. Katie Keitges was going to enter her final season of competition for the Panthers this spring trying a few different events on the track. She tells KRLS Sports she was going away from the distance races to try some more sprint work just to give herself another challenge.
Keitges:
“Maybe do some different things to surprise myself to see if I can succeed or not. I was going to do 400 hurdles and focus more on the 400s and 800s do some more fast paced stuff. I’ve done the 1500 and tried the 3000, so it’s a lot different than that two miler.”
While her high school career ended earlier than she wanted, Keitges will continue her athletic career at the division one level in basketball playing for the University of Omaha. Listen throughout the day for a feature on Keitges during our Spring Sports Spotlights on KNIA/KRLS and a special interview tonight on the Radio Sports Page at 6:00pm on 92.1 KRLS.
