The Pella City Council approved regulatory measures necessary to get services up and running when construction is complete for the Pella Fiber Telecommunications Utility at their meeting Tuesday. Council approved readings for two key ordinances: the first of which establishes the operation of a municipal telecom utility with a new chapter in city code, and the second includes preliminary rate structure for services provided. Council conditionally approved a special event permit request for Pella High School graduation — which would set up a car parade through the community, but only if social distancing guidelines allow it, and also approved a task order for engineering services for the Pella Airport Runway Rehabilitation project. Additionally, council approved resolutions for lease agreements related to turf management with MTI Distributing for $337,600 over five years and golf carts with NB Golf for $172,224 over four years operation at Bos Landen Golf Course, with payments to be made on a semi-annual basis.
