The deadline for Iowa property taxes to be paid has once again been extended by Governor Kim Reynolds due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The current deadline for all property taxes to be paid without incurring a penalty is Wednesday, May 27th according to Marion County Treasurer Michaela Bigaouette. Bigaouette tells KNIA/KRLS News the easiest ways for residents to make sure their taxes are paid on time is to pay them online at iowatreasurers.org. She says residents just need to make sure they have the receipt number that is on their statement. If residents can not, or choose not to pay them online Bigaouette says they can always drop a payment off at the drop box at the old East Elementary building in Knoxville or send a payment by mail. She says mail must be postmarked by May 27th to avoid a late fee.
Bigaouette says as the state is now in a soft reopening phase she does not expect the deadline to be extended any further. For more information and to hear the complete interview with Bigaouette, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
