With social distancing and stay-at-home recommendations, local bookstores have noticed many people are finally getting to their reading lists. Owner of Pageturners Bookstore in Indianola Kathy Macgruder tells KNIA News book series are popular right now, because people seem to have the time and motivation to read them.

“We are seeing people just starting or working on finishing series like The Outlanders, or mystery series are popular right now. Kids series books are also big right now with no school, like the Wings of Fire series or other similar fantasy series. Parents and kids have the time right now, and if you start they can take a good long time to read the entire series and people have the time.”

Macgruder also said Pageturners and many other bookstores can always help if someone isn’t sure what to read, and can pass along recommendations.
