The Knoxville Girls Golf Squad was looking to have a breakout season in 2020. The Panthers had designs on being more competitive in the South Central Conference, maybe finishing in the top three. Also individuals were looking at qualifying for the State Meet. Coach Barry Smith tells KRLS Sports the most disappointing thing about cancelling the season was the potential with the girls that for some will never be known.
Smith:
“A really good opportunity for this team to shine, and I think that what’s most disappointing is that I had three seniors that will be graduating, and they have been instrumental in the building of the program. So from that standpoint I hated to see the season get cancelled.”
Junior Amy Sullivan was returning from qualifying for state last season and according to Smith had worked on her game a lot during the offseason.
