In less than a week the Iowa legislative session is expected to resume on Friday, May 15th. When in session, State Senator Amy Sinclair tells KNIA/KRLS News the main priority for everyone is the state budget and how it will be impacted from the COVID-19 pandemic and she says that could take some time. She says some economic experts think Iowa revenues could be impacted between five and twenty percent for the coming fiscal year. She says because of potential need to reduce the budget and without specific numbers it could take some time as the legislatures wait for more exact numbers.

Sinclair says she does not expect the legislators to make up the time lost and expects them to continue to focus on priorities. She says she doesn’t expect the session to resemble anything like a session residents are familiar with until at least June.
