We have told you in the past, that the Melcher-Dallas Girls Track and Field Program was non-existent a few seasons ago. Just one girl had interest in going out for the team, so school officials scrapped the season. When coach Amy Stuart arrived on scene she immediately began the task of rebuilding the program. Senior Kaylee Maeschen, who has seen the program be built up during her high school career says Stuart deserves a lot of the credit for developing a culture that athletes are drawn to.
Maeschen:
“I really think Coach Stusart opened people’s minds on track. She’s a great coach and loves focusing on individual help like stretching, and always focused on you and never had favorites. I think she’s just a great coach.”
Maeschen is one of many seniors who lost their seasons due to the school closures this spring. She was going to try to cut down her times in the 400 and try to get her 4×400 relay team to the State Meet.
