The Pella School Board will consider a revised academic calendar for 2020-21 at their meeting today. Pella Schools Superintendent Greg Ebeling says district administration is recommending a start date of August 20th, which if approved, would allow the district to have additional flexibility as it relates to splitting semesters more efficiently and allowing for additional make-up time if needed for any potential closures needed next fall for COVID-19. A public hearing will be held on the calendar, which can be seen in draft form here.
The board will also consider changes to the volleyball coaching structure at Pella High School, by creating a new Director of Volleyball Operations position and shifting the coaching structure for the varsity and JV programs. Following the work session, the board will review the drafted plan for the Pella High School graduation ceremony, potential funding streams from the CARES act, and the After School Kids Klub after Crossroads of Pella suspended the program this summer.
