The Knoxville Public Library Board has approved a plan to re-open the library. The library will slowly phase out more services in the coming weeks as staff prepare increased hygiene measures and take precautions to ensure the safety of the community.
Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the curbside pickup services available Monday through Friday from 10 – 2. Hours will be extended to include more evening hours. Printing, copying, and faxing services will be available when called or emailed in. Interlibrary loans will resume May 15.
Knoxville Public Library Director Roslin Thompson tells KNIA/KRLS News the good thing about library’s is they know how to adapt to situations like the one we are currently facing. Thompson says the library will continue to do the safe responsible thing for the community.
Wifi access is free and available outside the building. Most programming will continue online since large gatherings are not allowed. The Summer Reading Program begins June 1st online and will be modified. The building and meeting rooms remain closed to the public through May 31st. Starting June 1st, computers and meeting rooms will be available by appointment.
