Pella High School will soon welcome a new activities director to oversee athletics and fine arts.

Matt Fouch is the current Activities Director, Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, and Vice Principal at Tipton High School and has accepted an offer to lead Pella’s programs, starting this summer. Fouch says he’s excited to help build on the tradition of the Dutch that has a reputation of continued success across most activities and sports in Class 3A.

“From the outside looking in, Pella does a lot of things right,” he says. “It’s a fun challenge, because you’re going to a school that takes so much pride in their activities in both fine arts and athletics, but there’s also still that challenge of taking things to the next level, because you’re never at the very, very top–there’s always more you can improve on.”

“Number one — we have to sustain what we’re doing there, and have our coaches and directors continue doing what they’re doing, but we have to find those little areas we can try and improve on and keep trying to be better as a community and activities department.”

Fouch says the transition time remains uncertain due to school closures and the cancellation of the spring sports season, but he looks forward to moving his family to the community soon.
