A pair of sprinters at Pella Christian High School who were key parts of an incredible run of success at state won’t get the chance to cement their senior seasons and race for state gold next week.

Head Coach Keith Anderson says a pair of senior girls have had their fair share of medals come from the famous Blue Oval in Drake Stadium, and he’ll miss seeing the duo race among the fastest sprinters in Class 2A.

Erica Nikkel and Chloe Morgan are multiple time state qualifiers and medalists, and in 2019, were members of the 2nd place 4×200 relay team that was .16 seconds away from a state title and the 4×100 relay that was .22 seconds shy of state gold, and earned silver on Championship Saturday last May — joined by 2019 graduate Mary Kate Bandstra and current sophomore Avey Amelse in both races.

Nikkel will race for Dordt University next spring, while Morgan will use her speed with the powerhouse Dutch softball team and their run-heavy attack. Hear more about Nikkel on today’s Spring Sports Spotlights on 92.1 KRLS.
