The hopes and goals of many high school sports teams across the state and country were lost when the spring season was cancelled. The PCM girls golf team was expecting to make major improvements this season, and possibly make a run to state. Head Coach Tony Ford says that it’s especially tough, knowing that his team was largely seniors who won’t get their final seasons.
“Those first couple weeks, there was obviously a lot of uncertainty. A little anxious to see if we were going to have a full season, a shortened season, or what was going to happen. The athletic unions were kind of in the same boat as us, trying to figure out what was going on. The athletes, at least from my end, were preparing to have some sort of season. So when the final decision came down, it was pretty disappointing. Especially given that we were going to have a lot of seniors on the team.”
The Mustangs had nine girls signed up, but never got a chance to practice. Of those signed up, four were seniors.
