Student-athletes all over the country have had to find creative ways to stay in shape during the COVID-19 pandemic, and athletes at Simpson College have had some help in working to find household objects to substitute for weights. Simpson Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Craig Konrardy tells KNIA News the Simpson athletes don’t all have access to the same equipment, so coming up with a workout plan required some ingenuity and finding new items to help with a home workout.
“We just walked around the office and weight room and found unique things to add weight to. We have instructional videos with adding weights to backpacks, towels, using an office chair. I put a video out of using my dog as a weight, using bricks, going outside and using the curb, stuff like that.”
Konrardy also said it turned into a challenge for who could use the most unique items to workout with, and the winners included using goats, babies, and siblings. To listen to the full interview, tune in to tonight’s Simpson College Radio Coaches Corner at 7pm.
