After severe weather brought moderate to heavy rainfall over much of south central Iowa Thursday, additional storms are possible today that could cause localized flooding in the area. A marginal risk for severe weather is in place, as isolated storms could produce strong winds and hail as periodic showers and thunderstorms are expected. Rainfall amounts between ½” to 1 inch of rain remain possible by early Sunday morning, with heavier amounts possible if stronger thunderstorms develop. Rainy conditions today will give way to a pleasant week ahead, with mostly sunny skies expected starting Monday with afternoon high temperatures rising from the mid-60s to start the week to the low 80s by Friday, with little to no precipitation in the forecast.
