It’s time for another flashback to some historical moments, this time for the PCM girls track and field team. Last season, the Mustangs traveled to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont for the district meet, and qualified nine events to state. Seven of those were automatic bids.

Sophomore Margo Chipps won the 100-meter hurdles race in a time of 16.33 to earn her automatic bid. She also placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.30. Eight one hundredths of a second behind her was senior teammate Morgan Uhlenhopp, who placed second to receive the other auto bid. Junior Alexis Kuecker rounded out the individual auto bids, winning the long jump with a leap of 16-01.00.

Three relay teams received auto bids. The 4×100-meter shuttle hurdle relay team placed first with a time of 1:08.80. The 4×200 team finished second with a time of 1:48.33. The final automatic-qualifying relay team was the 4×400 team, which placed second with a time of 4:16.52.

One individual qualified at-large. Junior Sierra Foster placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.87. The final event to qualify for PCM was the sprint medley relay team. They placed third with a time of 1:53.58.

Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS over the next few weeks for more historical flashbacks from area spring sports teams.
