The Knoxville Public Library has announced the dates for their upcoming Summer Reading Program. The program will run from Monday, June 1st through Friday, July 10th. Reading logs will be available at the front desk when the library reopens or parents can keep track on a piece of paper at home. Registration is not required for children to receive a prize, however, reading logs must be turned in by July 10th. This year’s program will include both online and offline activities to help families continue with social distancing.

The Knoxville Public library will remain closed until May 31st. Knoxville Public Library Director Roslin Thompson tells KNIA/KRLS News when the library does open it could be quite different from what patrons are used to. Thompson says when the library reopens they may have to limit the amount of chairs to keep people from sitting close together as well as keep some of the computers off to continue to spread people out. Thompson says the library may have to limit the number of people who can enter but with the library’s new renovation and the amount of room now available she doesn’t expect that to be much of a problem. According to Thompson the library will continue to provide online resources and curbside pickup for patrons who choose to stay socially distant during the COVID-19 pandemic.
