Pella Area Community & Economic (PACE) Alliance announced that based on crowd restrictions still in place in Iowa, all Thursdays in Pella June events are canceled.
“It is with great disappointment that we must cancel our Thursdays in Pella for the month of June due to COVID-19 concerns and regulations,” said Mary Mansfield, PACE Alliance Events Council Chair. “We will make a decision as to the status of the July Thursdays in Pella events in June. This is a time of coming together as a community. A time to support one another, hold fast to our values, strengthen our education, and cherish what makes Pella amazing. We look forward to expanding and developing our creativity to bring joyful and innovative events to Pella, as well as hosting the 2021 Thursdays in Pella bigger and better than ever.”
The Thursdays in Pella mini-festivals are organized by the Events Council of the PACE Alliance.
At this time, many of the activities with June dates will be pushed to July including:
Ag in the City – hosted by Marion County Farm Bureau
Families First – hosted by Families First
Marion County Farm Bureau announced that Ag in the City for June 25th, 2020 will be postponed.
Jeff Probasco, Regional Manager, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation:
“I know this was a difficult decision for the PACE Alliance, but the safety and wellbeing of the community is their first priority. They are hoping to be able to have some events in July. We have been offered July 30 as a possible date to have a limited event. We may have to combine with another group and will likely have to pare our participating businesses and attractions down significantly to abide by social distancing guidelines and also the possible lack of space.
As we do not know what tomorrow will bring, we are hopeful that we an have an event. This maybe such a thing that we will only have a short period of time to prepare. If you would be will to participant on a short notice or a limited basis please respond so we can know who is interested.
Thank you all for your help thus far. Over the years the Ag in the City event on Thursday night in Pella has be a wonderful event for the community, county and surrounding area. The Pella event has been the envy of others across the state in the Farm Bureau Family. Each of you and the Pella community should to be proud of not only this event, but all events that make Pella so unique. It is my pleasure to work with Farm Bureau and all citizens of Marion County.”
