With no spring softball, throwing and hitting practices, or other organized or unorganized team activities, the Indianola softball team is preparing for a quick start. Head coach Stacy Evans tells KNIA Sports she knows it will be a shortened season, but making sure the athletes are prepared to play before going into games is a priority.
“There is not going to be a whole lot of time, and you have to worry about the physical wear and tear on the girls. If you slam them into something too fast, there are going to be injuries so we have to caution ourselves. A lot of scenarios we are planning for, and I don’t know how it’s going to play out, but anytime they can suit up on the field I am for it.”
Evans also said she expects any sort of schedule to be focused on conference opponents, then a transition to postseason play.
