Area athletic directors are doing more to prepare for the summer sports season this year than they ever have in any year. Since last week’s announcement that the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union announced that baseball and softball can proceed with their seasons, area ADs are preparing to direct fans and players on slowing the spread of COVID-19. Twin Cedars Athletic Director Trent Verwers tells KRLS Sports fans may need to bring their own seating and locate in places that they are not used to watching the games.
Verwers:
“If you do sit on bleachers, try your best to spread out. The state is advising to bring your own lawn chairs, and you can also stand along the fence. We just have to do our best to slow the spread so it doesn’t affect other sports seasons as well.”
The first Twin Cedars baseball game is now scheduled for June 16th with a home game against Murray, while the first softball contest is also against Murray at home on the same night.
