Last week, the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union cleared the way for high schools to play summer sports. The thing that all high schools now need to make sure of is keeping everyone safe at the ballparks. Melcher-Dallas Baseball Coach Pat Ferguson tells KNIA Sports he, like everyone else is glad to have the summer season happen, but he still has some worries about how the protocol will be followed.
Ferguson:
“It worries me a little bit because the virus is still out there, and I know people want to get back to normal and so do it. It doesn’t make me nervous, I just want our kids and fans to be safe.”
Teams can officially start practice on June first with the first game of the season June 15th.
