The Indianola American Legion Post 165 held a Memorial Day ceremony Monday, honoring and mourning the military personnel who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Post Commander James Sullivan tells KNIA News the day would normally have a parade and larger ceremony, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed things.
“We still had a flag raising ceremony, but we lowered it down to half staff in honor of those who have died from the Coronavirus. We still had a 21-gun salute with taps being played, so it was just not as large, and all social distancing was followed.”
