One of the most interesting things to come out of an otherwise disappointing spring sports season has been the evolution of team cultures, and the Indianola Girls Track and Field team has made theirs a positive team culture that celebrates its members despite not sharing the field. Freshman Katie O’Neil was joining the high school track squad this year, and says the team, especially the seniors, have been welcoming and it’s something she will carry with her.
“I really looked up to the seniors. I ran with Bailey (Blake) and Ashley (Rockhold), and they were good at keeping everyone together and encouraging everyone at practices. They were not only good leaders but good friends at school. I knew some of the other seniors as well, and they were all nice and always saying hi. They really just made the team a team, they really brought us all together.”
O’Neil is featured on today’s Indianola Spring Sports Spotlights, go to KNIAKRLS.com for the full interview.
