The Indianola Community School District is continuing to plan a graduation ceremony for the 2020 seniors, which is taking place late next month. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the district moved away from the drive-by graduation after some feedback from students and parents.

“We are going to go ahead with some of the things that led up to the drive-in graduation in terms of getting pictures and putting together a video of a virtual ceremony. We did put in a placeholder to hold out hope for a potential traditional ceremony of some kind, that will be on June 28th. Of course we don’t know what kinds of restrictions we might be under at that time, and at that point it will be too late to try and put together a drive-in graduation. So we’ll have whatever traditional ceremony we are able to have on June 28th.”

Sathoff also said the situation remains to be fluid, and he will communicate any changes that are made.
