The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union are providing further direction from the Iowa Department of Education’s guidance issued May 20 on baseball and softball.
The biggest note is that it will be the decision of each local school district to determine if they can safely conduct a baseball and/or softball season. Those who decide not to are required to send correspondence to the IHSAA/IGHSAU if they choose to opt out by June 8th.
A frequently asked questions page addresses concerns ranging from participation physicals, to academic eligibility, to screening and testing, and more. Several decisions as it relates to potential cancellations related to the spread of COVID-19 will be made either by local districts or a county public health agency.
