The City of Indianola sits just below the 70% threshold for census participation with 69.6%, while Warren County has the 10th best response rate in the state at 70.7%. According to the latest data from the US Census Bureau, Iowa has the third best response rate in the nation behind Minnesota and Wisconsin. Indianola Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the census has a far reaching impact on the community, it affects businesses, city planning, school district planning, and overall enthusiasm if we can call the area a growing community, so participation is important.
