With the summer sports season given the go-ahead from Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and the boys and girls associations, Indianola staff are working to get the teams ready to practice and play. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the district is prepared, and with the announcements comes certain restrictions on how teams can be as safe as possible.
“There is guidance from the Iowa Department of Education talking about safeguards. There are separate rules for practices and games, such as players won’t be able to use the dugouts during practices they will have to store their equipment along the fence. There will be no spitting of sunflower seeds, and all shared equipment will be sanitized. All spectators will have to observe appropriate social distancing.”
Practices can begin on June 1st, and games are scheduled to begin on June 15th.
