Once again the children in Knoxville and the surrounding area will have the opportunity to receive free breakfast and lunches all summer long as the Knoxville Food Youth Initiative will provide meals to all children age 18 and under free of charge. Verlin Goodyke with the Knoxville Food Youth Initiative tells KNIA/KRLS News due to the COVID-19 pandemic all meals will be cold and will be picked up in the Knoxville High School parking lot. He says each meal distribution day families will receive enough meals for two days and families can receive up to 6 days worth of meals if they come to every meal distribution day.

According to Goodyke, the summer meal distribution will begin on Monday, June 1st and run through Friday, August 7th. Parents and students can pick up their meals on Monday’s Wednesday’s and Friday’s from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students do not need to be in the vehicle during pickup as parents can tell the volunteers how many meals they are picking up.
