The loss of spring especially hurt for the Pella boys golf team, who one year ago was on the state tournament stage, and was hopeful today would have been the beginning of a run to a 3A title.
The Dutch were the No. 3 ranked team at the end of the 2019 season and had a 6th place finish at state, and with a trio of All-State and All-Tournament seniors leading the charge, including John Oltman, Luke Galeazzi, and Trey Wood, as well as talented sophomore Will Simpson and a returning varsity starter in Colin Henry to round out the lineup.
Head Coach Bob Fessler says he’s disappointed this group didn’t get the chance to play for the top prize in Class 3A — a goal they worked extremely hard at to achieve, but he is still thankful for the Class of 2020 and how they helped build the program into one of the best in the state.
Today would have marked the beginning of the state golf meet in Fort Dodge at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.
