The Knoxville Police Department has announced this year’s KPD Freedom 5K has been postponed due to COVID-19.

According to Lt. Aaron Fuller, the department is obviously saddened by the need to postpone the race but he hopes they will be able to still hold the event this year and says as of now they are looking at moving the event to sometime this fall depending on the recommendations regarding social distancing due to COVID-19.

The announcement comes just over two weeks from when the department awarded scholarships to two former Knoxville High School graduates with the money raised from last year’s 5k.
