As we look back on what could have been this season, a PCM senior was hoping to make a return to the blue oval at Drake Stadium. Nigel Sperfslage qualified in three events last year, two relay events and the 400 meter hurdles.

Last season at the state meet, Sperflage’s events didn’t necessarily go as planned. The 4×110 shuttle hurdle relay team was disqualified in the finals. The 800 sprint medley team finished 14th overall, and Sperfslage finished 16th overall in the 400 meter hurdles.

Head Coach Collin Harrison noted earlier in the season Sperflage’s desire to get that bad taste out of his mouth, and that he came into the season motivated to get back to state. Sperfslage was among the top 10 returners in the 400 meter hurdles this season.
