After being open for the last several weeks, the Indianola YMCA will begin allowing members 16-17 years old, after the previous policy had an 18-year-old limit, and the pool will be open for lap swimmers by appointment only. Executive Director Heather Hulen tells KNIA News in addition to social distancing efforts and other safety precautions, members will have to help the Y stay as safe as possible.
“When you walk in there will be a pre-screening questionnaire, just a few questions to make sure that everyone in the building is healthy and should be in there. We are encouraging anyone who is in a high-risk category to stay home. If anyone has been exposed to COVID, or if you are taking care of somebody that has COVID, or again in the high-risk category, we recommend stay home and follow what the guidelines are.”
The new age policy will go into effect on Monday, June 1st, while the pool will be open by appointment beginning June 8th.
