A core group of seniors will try to push the Pella Christian softball program over a hump they’ve been unable to climb over the past several seasons when competition resumes June 15th.
Head Coach Karen Harrill says she’ll be leaning on pitcher Cheyanne Collins, infielder Emerson Sarver, and outfielders Chloe Morgan and Sierra Pleima to use multiple years of starting experience between them to earn an elusive bid at the state softball tournament in Fort Dodge.
Senior key stats in 2019:
Chloe Morgan – .418 avg, 46 hits/110 at-bats, 27 runs scored, 30 stolen bases (tied school record), 3rd team 2A All-State selection
Cheyanne Collins – .393 avg, 4 home runs, 30 RBI, 7 doubles; 8 wins, 108 innings pitched
Emerson Sarver – .272 avg, 19 RBI, 6 SB
Sierra Pleima – .250 avg, 21 hits, started 30 games in outfield
Despite tough regular season records, the Eagles have put together impressive postseason runs each of the past two years, especially in the shadow of four straight regional final appearances with several now-successful collegiate athletes on those rosters.
Pella Christian softball will be featured in opening night coverage, when they travel to Oskaloosa on June 15th. That game will be live on 92.1 KRLS.
