As high school summer sports teams begin their practices this week, teams will learn for sure what they are going to look like. The Pleasantville baseball team had a staggering number of 49 players signed up before the season started. Head Coach Sheldon Card attributes that large number to having some players that did not get to compete in their respective spring sports who decided to go out for baseball. He says that should make for some fun position battles early on.

“With that number, I hope they come in day one ready to win a spot and compete for a spot, and see who wants those positions. It’s going to be two weeks of organized chaos. But we’ll find out who’s been doing something over the last couple months, and hopefully reward those guys the first couple weeks.”

The Trojans open the season on June 15th at Van Meter.
