Last summer, the Knoxville Softball pitching staff was very young. Ashlyn Finarty was the starting pitcher for the most part and as an eighth grader endured an up and down season going 13-10 with an ERA of 3.39 and 69 strikeouts. First year coach Carla Smith tells KRLS Sports there may be a pitching staff this year with a couple of girls back that did not complete the season last summer.
Smith:
“We have Jaydyn Streigle and is a very good asset, she didn’t finish the season with us last year, and Jordyn Franck, she got injured during the Pella Christian game last year, and we’re excited to have her back as well. We’ll have Sierra Heffron as an eighth grader to see what she can do at the upper levels and a couple of other players that we’ll see what they can do in preseason.”
Streigle and Franck combined for just three starts last summer in the circle. The Panthers get the season underway on opening night June 15th against Southeast Warren.
