The Pella City Council approved the list of finalists for Pella’s next police chief at their meeting Tuesday.
A certified list from the Pella Civil Service Commission of four candidates includes:
Lt. Paul Haase – Pella, Iowa
Chief Troy Bacon – Frankfort, Indiana
Lt. Fredrick Jortner – Chesire, Connecticut
Capt. Shane McSheehy – Eustis, Florida
Mayor Don DeWaard says the next step is for city leadership to interview the final four candidates again, before making a final decision.
The Pella Police Department is seeking to replace Robert Bokinsky, who left for a role as a Director in the Scottsdale, Arizona Police Department in March. Haase served as Interim Chief from March 7th through May 16th — Lt. Dave Beukelman is currently in the role until a new chief is hired. Bokinsky served as Chief since 2012.
