A local high school senior is continuing his athletic career at the collegiate level, and in the process, is staying local. Wyatt Clark of Pleasantville has decided to attend Simpson College and join the baseball team. Clark was originally planning on ending his athletic career after high school, but with the uncertainty of his final season, decided to pursue other opportunities. He says his desire to continue competing, coupled with the advice of a fellow Pleasantville alumnus is what helped form his decision to continue playing baseball.
“Originally, I fully planned on going to Northwest Missouri State, just to go to school there. But with the season up in the air and not really certain, I really wanted to play college baseball. The Simpson coach gave me a call, and I talked to him, saying that I didn’t want to let this opportunity slip. So I was all in. And then I talked to Colton Major, who’s also at Simpson. He was talking up the program, and I just wanted to be a part of it.”
Clark will play one final season this summer in a Trojan uniform, and is expected to be one of the most talented players on Sheldon Card’s roster. Clark is planning to study exercise science at Simpson.
