With the summer baseball and softball season getting underway on June 15th, teams around the state are starting to prepare by practicing and getting their lineups in order. Another way of preparing for the season that they are not used to doing is cleaning and sanitizing everything after practice and sometimes multiple times per practice. The new health guidelines schools are adhering to are different for everyone this season. Twin Cedars Baseball Coach Mark Schroeder knows every school will be watched closely to see if they are following guidelines and he tells KRLS Sports they will have to be extra cautious about cleaning before and after practice.

Schroeder:
“We really have to do a great job of sanitizing, being a small school not every player doesn’t have their own helmet or bat, and some kids don’t even have a glove at this point. But we’ll take it just to get back on the field and play after we got the go ahead.”

He says the players understand that following protocols will mean possibly having more things opened up, especially more sports in the fall for the athletes coming back next school year. Twin Cedars will host Murray on June 16th to get the season underway.
