The City of Indianola wants to remind residents to prevent storm drains from getting plugged by raking or mowing their grass and leaves clippings. The city says often during a heavy rain event, unattended yard clippings will create blockages and lead to flooding in neighborhoods, which causes city employees to have to be called in. The clippings can make their way into local waterways and create algae blooms which can kill local aquatic life. The city asks that residents dispose of their yard clippings in an appropriate manner, and can use the city brush facility. For more information, click below.
