Marion County offices reopened by appointment only last week following an over two month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To make the reopening easier the county installed new appointment software to the county’s website to make the appointment process faster for county residents.
Department Head for the Marion County Information Technology Department, Andrew DeHaan says the county has seen a steady flow of appointments as more county offices get added to the software. DeHaan says the first day the software was utilized the county saw approximately three to four hundred appointments made. He says the county has added the majority of county offices as well as the sheriff’s office to the software to book appointments and will next be working with Marion County Public Health to have their offices added as well.
According to Marion County Treasurer Michaela Bigaouette the addition of the software has helped her office immensely. She says this is the first time in the history of the Treasurer’s Office they have had a tool to manage their workflow. She says her office still has the same volume of work but to be able to schedule that work and provide some structure to it is just amazing.
Residents can utilize the appointment software by visiting the Marion County website, clicking Book Appointment in the middle of the page, filling out the required information and submitting the appointment request. Marion County offices are still currently working at their temporary location at the Old East Elementary building located at 614 E Washington Street.
