Two Knoxville residents were arrested Sunday after they allegedly attempted to burglarize a home in Knoxville. According to court documents, law enforcement officers responded to a call in the 1100 block of Woodland Drive regarding a possible domestic disturbance in progress. When officers arrived they found the door to the residence was severely damaged and the person inside had the door barricaded with a couch to prevent individuals from gaining entry. The individuals trying to gain entry included 57-year-old John Small and 25-year-old Miranda McCombs, both of Knoxville. Police determined that when the pair attempted to gain entry, one person was knocking on the door with a long flashlight while the other person tried to force the door open. Small was arrested and charged with attempted burglary 1st degree, a class C felony and McCombs was arrested and charged with attempted burglary 1st degree, a class C felony as well as criminal mischief 4th degree, a serious misdemeanor.
