The City of Indianola currently sits at a census participation rate of 70%, while Warren County has the 10th best response rate in the state at 71.1%. According to the latest data from the US Census Bureau, Iowa has the third best response rate in the nation behind Minnesota and Wisconsin. Indianola Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the census has a far reaching impact on the community, it affects businesses, city planning, school district planning, and overall enthusiasm if we can call the area a growing community, so participation is important.
