The Twin Cedars Softball Squad has put together a stronger non-conference schedule this season than in years past. The idea was to give the Sabers a better idea of what they could face in the regional. Last season, Coach Zack Dunkin says his team was surprised at some of the teams they played especially late in the season. He adds while the Bluegrass Conference has some strong teams, the non-conference games will test his team for the regional…

Dunkin:
“That’s the idea of having a stronger non-conference schedule. The pitching is better, the overall players are better. That’s the type of competition you’ll have to face if you want to advance in the regional tournament.”

Twin Cedars is scheduled to play Wayne, Collins-Maxwell, and Albia, all who qualified for the state tournament last season with Collins-Maxwell being the two-time defending 1A state champions. Twin Cedars will get its season underway on Tuesday with a home game against Murray.
