The PCM baseball team will be looking to replace a fair amount of talent on this year’s team. Last year’s team that finished 17-6 graduated five of the top seven batters, and a lot of infielders. Head Coach Jeff Lindsay says that while many of this year’s players have varsity batting experience, the fielding will take a bit to adjust to, but he’s seen promise.

“We have a nice group of other guys that have mainly been JV players. A couple of them have maybe seen some varsity pitching at times when it’s been needed over the past year or so. But as far as playing in the field, it’s going to be a different challenge for them because they’re going to be seeing varsity type baseball. Varsity pitching, the ball is going to be hit a little harder and a little further. But right now, so far, looking at their skill level, what they’re able to do, catching the ball in the outfield, fielding it on the infield, making the throws with good strength behind it, it’s been really positive and refreshing right now.”

The Mustangs have no problems with youth, with seven seniors and six juniors, though they have taken somewhat of a backseat in recent years due to steady numbers within the program. This group gets their time to shine underway on Monday when PCM plays host to South Hamilton to begin the 2020 season.
