The Pleasantville softball team has completed their preseason preparations for the shortened 2020 season, and is eager to get started. The Trojans are expected to have a talented team this year, and earned a preseason ranking from the IGHSAU. Pleasantville has been plagued by early postseason exits over the last few years, topped off by a playoff opening loss to Pella Christian at home last season. Head Coach Jan Haugen says that’s a major motivating factor for his team this season.

“I think the kids were really excited to go out and get started, and I think they’re as motivated as any group that I’ve had. We got taken out right away last year by Pella Christian, who played better than us and deserved to win, so that was disappointing for us. The kids that are still here remember that, and there’s a lot of motivation come tournament time. I don’t think you have to ask them to focus, because it’s there and it’s time.”

#14 in 2A Pleasantville begins the season on Monday at Van Meter.
