Kyle Larson is hotter than the surface of the sun right now. Larson completed the sweep of this weekend’s Brownells Big Guns Bash World of Outlaws show at the Knoxville Raceway by taking the lead on lap 14 and holding on for the last 16 laps to win for his personal fifth race in a row. Larson inherited the lead from Daryn Pittman, who was running away with the lead ten laps into the race when he tangled with a lapped car in turn two. Brian Brown got the jump on Larson at the restart, but Larson took the lead on lap 14 and would win by just over one second. Larson said he practiced patience to get the lead back.
Larson:
“I knew he was going to run the top in 3 and 4, and I knew I had to get a good lap especially in 3 and 4 he might now slide me. I didn’t get the run I wanted and he got by me, but I know my car was really good, and I stayed patient behind him. It got a little tight so I rolled the wing forward. It’s just sweet to get five in a row and really awesome to win here.”
Brad Sweet was runner-up with Logan Schuchart coming in third place. Next week, it is back to a weekly race night at the Knoxville Raceway with all three classes back.
