The Pella City Council will consider two special event permits at their meeting Tuesday that would officially open the door to summertime gatherings in the community.

Council will consider resolutions that would approve a 4th of July celebration on the day of the holiday, and to allow closures along the city square for Thursdays in Pella events in July.

Tentative plans for the 4th of July in Pella include a parade, performances on the Tulip Toren by Pella Jazz I, the Tulip Court, and others, carriage rides, fishing at Caldwell Park, and fireworks at the end of the day. The Pella Area Community and Economic Alliance is planning on five Thursdays in Pella events in Central Park in July.
