While the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted several projects for non-profit organizations, the Wonder Spelen in Pella is moving forward.
Fred Kreykes and Mark Wiscus with the Wonder Spelen non-profit organization say they are fundraising for an accessible playground at the current Kiwanis Park off of North Main Street in Pella. Both say Wonder Spelen has worked with playground designers to develop a plan that includes interactive playground equipment, accessible bathrooms, and sensory play equipment.
The proposed plan for completion is for construction to start this fall if conditions are favorable, with final completion in the fall of 2021. The playground will include an 80’ x 80’ playground, as well as parking spaces, shade, benches and an accessible restroom. The CIty of Pella is contributing $320,000 to construction and engineering services, while the non-profit is responsible for the difference. Hear more about Wonder Spelen on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
